ST. FRANCIS – The Cheyenne County Hospital hopes to gain space and more efficiently serve patients by modernizing the way it keeps its records.
Boxes full of paper records are being scanned and digitally saved to a server, with paper copies being destroyed. Eventually, the hope is to clear the records room for other uses, such as visiting medical professionals.
Physicians now dictate their notes, so that current and future records will all be digital. Grant funding helped purchase equipment and a dictation license, a server and the cost of scanning and processing 30 boxes of records.
