A $4,962 grant to USD 298 Lincoln Schools will aid in the addition of carpentry classes.
The new carpentry classes will be offered as an elective to enhance the school’s Architecture and Construction Pathway. Students will receive instruction on construction skills. Students will also complete online training for OSHA Construction Safety Certification.
The Dane G. Hansen Foundation grant will be used to purchase new tools and equipment for the course.
In addition to the instruction and OSHA training, students will learn the proper techniques for general home repair and building standards. As a practical application of carpentry techniques, students will build a large storage shed. The shed will be sold at a reduced price to someone in the community.
