A $15,000 grant to the Salina Area United Way will assist that organization with the purchase of new software to establish the new Volunteer Hub. The Volunteer Hub is being developed to maintain volunteer services in Salina as the long-time nonprofit organization, the Volunteer Connection ceases operations.
The new software will bring together technology needs for volunteer recruitment and registration as well as update donor tracking technology for the United Way.
In Saline County there are nearly 1350 registered volunteers from youth to retirees. The new Volunteer Hub will match those volunteers with requests from local nonprofit organizations. By 2018, the United Way hopes to expand the services of the Volunteer Hub to include additional counties in the Hansen Foundation’s primary service area including Cloud, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Osborne, Ottawa, Republic and Russell.
