A $100,000 grant from the Foundation to Hospice Services of Northwest Kansas, LLC, will further develop palliative care services in the region.
Palliative Care of Northwest Kansas has served more than 80 individuals across 13 counties in northwest Kansas since it was established in 2013. The organization was created as part of Hospice Services of Northwest Kansas in an effort to fill an important need. Palliative care serves the sickest of the sick with one or more life-limiting illnesses often accompanied by debilitating conditions. An interdisciplinary team strives to provide relief from pain, symptoms and the distress that accompanies serious illness. Palliative care professionals work to honor patient preferences and values regarding their care, reduce hospital admissions and keep patients in their homes with improved quality of life.
