The Human Calculator Coming to Oakley
Scott Flansburg, aka the Human Calculator, is coming to Oakley thanks to a $3,000 grant from the Hansen Foundation.
The grant is to the Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center (NKESC). The Center is bringing in Flansburg to work with high school and junior high students that participate in the gifted student programs in 19 northwest Kansas school districts. Approximately 100 students will participate.
Flansburg is a nationally know presenter that has appeared on Oprah, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Dateline NBC, ABC’s Good Morning America, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Larry King Live and others. He is also a best-selling author.
Known as the Human Calculator, Flansburg holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest mental computation. He will work with the students on step-by-step methods for rapid and accurate calculations and enhancing their understanding of numbers. Flansburg teaches his belief that everyone can be good at math and that math can be fun.
The program is scheduled for February 24, 2016.
