A $55,000 grant from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Logan, KS, will assist the Republic County Hospital in securing new radiology equipment.
The current equipment is 16 years old and uses computer radiography. The new equipment uses digital radiography, which will provide faster imaging, better readability for the health care providers and less radiation for the patients.
The Republic County Hospital carries a designation as a critical access hospital. It provides the residents of Republic County and surrounding rural areas with trauma assessment and diagnosis as well as routine diagnostic services. RCH is a level IV trauma center, meaning it provides advanced trauma life support to patients that require transfer to larger facilities. In 2014, RCH served more than 9,200 patients from 10 counties in Kansas and Nebraska.
The Hansen Foundation’s primary goal is to make the communities of northwest Kansas better places to live and to award grants to recipients who demonstrate a strong desire for community improvement. This grant helps the Foundation achieve that goal.
