A Powerful Improvement
Logan County fair barns had an ILLUMINATING improvement thanks to a grant provided by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. The grant was awarded to install lighting, outlets, and breakers into the livestock barns and the new outdoor show arena.
Gone were the long extension cords previously necessary to clip touch-ups on livestock. Easy access to outlets also permitted fans to be safely installed above pens without concerns about goats eating the cords, folks tripping or cords laying in water. Furthermore, the electricity to the show ring barn provided lighting and allowed the
intercom to be heard throughout the barns.
An unexpected benefit of the electrical project was the fans in the livestock barns made the them
a pleasant place to visit. (In other words, the barns had minimal animal odor, and the barns were cooler.)
The fans and open barn also allowed the chickens and rabbits to be exhibited in the barns instead of the oven like enclosed arena.
