CONCORDIA – To celebrate the opening of a longer and wider runway at Blosser Municipal Airport, an air show was planned in Concordia for the first time in more than 30 years.
Aerobatic pilots made the ribbon cutting at the September event exciting. Pilot Brian Correll flew his PItts Special bi-plane upside down and used it to cut the ribbon located 20 feet off the runway pavement! Go-Pro video the pilot took can be viewed on the City of Concordia Facebook page.
Foundation grant funds were used to pay the announcer and the Air Boss, who reviewed and approved the safety plan, and covered a portion of the fuel costs, pilot fees and rental of the sound system. About 3,000 people attended the show.
