OSBORNE – Camp Read-a-Lot blasted into the summer, providing 30 to 50 young readers with reading and space-themed activities.
The Osborne school district program partnered with Big Creek Rocketry and the U.S. National Weather Service for special programs during June and July on rockets, weather and space. The Cosmosphere provided a two-day space camp kick-off event.
Robotics, arts, crafts and other STEM challenges were also available during the twice-weekly program. Participants were required to read for 20 minutes before engaging in the daily activities. They were also able to check out school library books and keep reading at home.
Grant funding underwrote some of the expense.
