Child care capacity doubles in Lincoln County

LINCOLN – The development of a Child Care Startup Grant program in Lincoln County resulted in two new child care facilities opening within six months.

Prior to the grant program, which is partially funded by Hansen funds, there were only two in-home licensed providers in the county. Many parents were panicking about what to do with their children because they had to work.

The grants helped double child care capacity and provide new options for parents. However, the child care shortage remains. Many young mothers are expecting infants.

The grant funds were used by the new providers to help with property improvements, purchase toys and equipment and provide working capital during the first few months of operation.
