Internships, Young AmeriTowne offer important experiences

LENORA – Nex-Generation Round Up for Youth continues to offer internships that provide students with a diverse array of work experience, as well as financial literacy and career education through participation in Young AmeriTowne of Kansas.

In 2020, Nex-Gen launched a YouthBiz entrepreneurship curriculum targeting middle school and high school students within the 13 E Communities in Northwest and north central Kansas that currently participate in Youth Entrepreneurship Challenges. The curriculum is designed to show students that they can be the inventor, developer or creator of the next great idea.

In 2021, 98 summer internship positions were filled, and three positions were still available. It was the largest participation in the program’s history. Fourteen public, private and home schools serving 513 students participated in Young AmeriTowne during the 2020-21 school year.

Grant funds helped underwrite wages for interns and other costs.
