MANKATO – An increasing number of visitors are finding their way to the Jewell County Historical Society Museum, where newly upgraded exhibits promote the county’s brand as the Mammoth Capital of the Great Plains.
More mammoth remains have been found in a one-and-a-quarter-mile segment of Lovewell Lake than anywhere else in the Great Plains. New displays feature mammoth bones and a custom-built mammoth skeleton model.
Promotional materials are being developed to share information about Jewell County’s mammoth past.
