NORTON – In its first two months of operation at a new downtown location, the Norton Thrift Shop was seeing a 100 percent increase in its volume of sales.
The shop, which has been operated for 47 years by United Methodist Women volunteers, had been located in a smaller building that was not handicapped accessible. A donor purchased the new location, and a second donor paid for installation of an HVAC system.
A Hansen grant helped fund other needed improvements to the new building. However, in the future it was determined that the roof would have to be replaced.
Increased revenue at the store will increase the ability to support local missions. The store has helped local families in crisis with clothing and personal items.
