NWK Tech enhances carpentry program, works toward event space

GOODLAND – Purchase of a building near campus to be renovated into an event space and renovation of the Carpentry Technology facility, with much of the work being done by students, were two projects accomplished at Northwest Kansas Technical College utilizing grant funds.

Carpentry instructor Joseph Dobbs believes in promoting creative solutions, and students designed a space-saving staircase leading to a storage area in the carpentry building.

The event space, to be housed in the former Elks Lodge building, will allow the college to host regional workshops, conferences, college fund-raising events and periodic concerts, as well as community events planned.
