Rural Exposure

A grant from the Hansen Foundation provided support for 11 Washburn Law student externs to work with 12 supervising attorneys in Northwest Kansas. One of the students shared this: “This experience provided valuable insight into living and working in a rural setting. I was able to see what lawyers do — and how they do it — as well as do it myself. The range of projects I worked on was incredible. This externship allowed me to use and build on the academic skills learned during my first year. Moreover, it allowed my wife and me the wonderful opportunity to experience living in northwest Kansas It helped break down stigmas regarding small town life.”
