A grant from the foundation matched other funding to help keep Parents As Teachers in Northwest Kansas. Families that participate in the program are more involved with their children and show increased confidence in their parenting skills. Parents As Teachers helps reduce the incidence of child abuse/neglect and provides support for parents in times of need/crisis. It also reduces the cost of specialized education once children become school age. Many parenting tips are shared, such as the critical importance of reading to children from birth.
