NWK Tech students learn on the latest in precision ag technology

GOODLAND – Precision ag students at the Northwest Kansas Technical College have the equipment they need to learn about improving planting, liquid application and harvest operations with current technology.

Grant funds purchased custom parts for a John Deere eight-row planter, which students installed and programmed. Students also collected all data needed to run the software for the equipment.

The variability in Kansas’s soils and water resources requires that fields be managed and treated according to the distinct characteristics of smaller management zones within each field.  Graduates of the Precision Agriculture program will be able to apply practical and effective precision ag technology skills.
