Trojan Threads becomes second student-run business at Beloit high school

BELOIT – Two years after launching a student-run coffee shop, Beloit Senior High School students are working on a new enterprise.

A direct-to-garment printer was purchased with grant funds, and students learned to print fanwear and a variety of other T-shirts for students, school groups and staff. There was a learning curve because the new equipment came without instructions, but training videos were found online, and Trojan Threads got up and running.

A group of students suggested the business after realizing there was no local business that produced fanwear. The hope is to expand the business to serve the needs of other area schools and communities as well.

The hope is Trojan Threads will be an invaluable hands-on learning experience for students similar to Trojan Grounds, a coffee shop previously established in the school.
