WPAA brings culture, entertainment to NWK

Two of the programs presented during the Western Plains Arts Alliance 2021-22 season were supported by memorials for people who had been very involved and appreciative of the endeavors of the association.

The season opener, Dave and Daphne, a Nashville duo, was dedicated to Mary Ann Juenemann, who had attended programs for many years.  Her family designated her memorial to WPAA because they said she loved going to the programs, and they wanted to support our continued efforts for bringing cultural events to Northwest Kansas.

The other program that was partially funded by memorial gifts was “After Midnight,” Colorado’s premier swing band.  This show was dedicated to Kenneth Gatlin who had served on the WPAA Board of Directors for several years, had been a sponsor for WPAA events, and a faithful attendee for more than 25 years.  His family requested having a reception after the show in his honor, which they organized and hosted. Family members from across Kansas as well as Texas and Missouri participated.

A Hansen Foundation grant also supports the WPAA’s ongoing mission to provide cultural events that enrich the lives of all those who call this area home.
