From felting to fishing to drones, 4-H Day Camps held throughout Northwest Kansas in 2019 provided youth with a variety of opportunities.

A foundation grant has supported camps in the area since 1967. In 2019, 39 single-day camps were held in 20 different counties. Most of them were focused on unmanned aerial systems. More than 450 kids attended the 29 drone-focused day camps and workshops. In addition, the summer drone program reached 390 youth at 15 fairs introducing UAS safety, regulations and career opportunities.

Overall, 1,252 youths participated in a day camp in 2019, including 388 who were not enrolled in 4-H.  There were 220 Kansas teen 4-H leaders who provided leadership to the day camps, as well as 153 adult volunteer 4-H leaders who assisted and worked with the day camps.
