DOWNS – The city pool, which has served Downs since 1972, was resurfaced before this year’s swimming season and a new bright blue coat of paint was applied.
Daily attendance was boosted, with a second evening of water aerobics added and many pool parties. The pool was open 77 days, with an average of 26 swimmers each day. A total of 2,026 people swam throughout the summer.
The new surface, which a Hansen Foundation grant helped fund, is also easier for staff to maintain.
