Western Vista complex fulfills needs in Oakley

OAKLEY – A newly constructed building complex fulfilling multiple needs in Logan County offers 4-H meeting and exhibit space, a recreation facility, a gym, a new wrestling center, locker rooms, a full-service kitchen, as well as a walking track available year around.

A capital campaign was launched to fund the project. More than $3 million was raised through donations and pledges. Government entities and foundations also provided funds. A Hansen Foundation grant aided in primary construction and completion of the building.

The Western Vista Building Complex has been utilized since the day it was completed. Multiple groups and individuals have used the facility. Wedding receptions, senior citizens walking, school practices and games, little kids wrestling practices and a tournament scheduled in February, among other things. Yoga and dance classes that previously weren’t available in Oakley are being taught there. The 4-H program has started having programs there, and members are excited to use it more fully during the county fair in the summer. Overall, there are opportunities for countless people within Logan County and the surrounding area to use different parts of the building.

It has already made a wonderful impact – especially for the school system. The first day it was officially approved for usage there was a middle school volleyball game held inside. From that point forward, there has rarely been a day when there isn’t an event or practice in the building.
