SALINA – Enrichment classes are planned at The Garage that teach students from middle-school-aged to adult how to weld, paint, repair and maintain automobiles.

Expansion and renovation of a newly acquired adjacent building are allowing the creation of The Shop and The Station at the world-class automotive museum, which opened in February 2022.  The Garage will be the only museum in Kansas or the region to incorporate this type of experience.

Educational partnerships with several area school districts and colleges have the goal of making students “workforce ready.”

The classes will follow the opening of a driving school at the museum in January 2023. The drivers’ education program rapidly expanded in 2024, after another driving school closed.

A Hansen Foundation grant helped purchase property adjacent to The Garage for the new education space.
