CONCORDIA – Grant funds from the Hansen Foundation were used to underwrite free family-friendly movies in Mankato, Beloit and Concordia, a “Wear Blue Day” event, a virtual Superhero Fun Run, community information sessions in coffee shops and restaurants and proclamation of April as “Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month.”

All events were designed to familiarize people with North Central Kansas CASA, and recruit, screen and train volunteers and board members for the organization. CASA volunteers are trained and appointed to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system in Mitchell and Cloud counties.

Through the publicity efforts, five new volunteers and one new board member were recruited.
