CCCC Nursing Simulation Lab complete with medication management system

CONCORDIA – A project that bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare practice has been completed at Cloud County Community College. The BD Pyxis Medication Management System, widely used in hospitals for medication dispensing, tracking, and administration, has been integrated into the nursing curriculum.

Nursing students now have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the same technology they will use in their professional careers.

The integration of this technology has not only enhanced the students’ educational experience but has also created a stronger connection between Cloud County Community College and local healthcare employers, who know that graduates are coming out of the program with hands-on experience on the same systems used in their hospitals.

In August 2024, CCCC held the grand opening of its Technical Education and Innovation Center, the new home for the nursing program and CCCC Nursing’s Simulation Lab. The BD Pyxis Medication Management System, purchased with the assistance of a Hansen Foundation grant, is part of lab equipment.
