OBERLIN – New self-contained breathing apparatus units and a dedicated air-filling station significantly advance firefighter safety, operational readiness, and long-term service to Oberlin.
Shortly after installation, the fire department responded to a residential structure fire. The new air system enabled firefighters to quickly refill and resupply the air tanks, allowing them to fight the fire without delay.
This uninterrupted support helped ensure a continuous effort to fully extinguish the fire, minimizing damage to not just the structure where the fire occurred, but to the surrounding homes.
Grant funds helped cover the cost of the equipment purchase.
