Custom-built lighting system to enhance outdoor events

GOODLAND – Local people had designed and crafted a portable stage that has been used at community events in Goodland and the surrounding area for five years now, but additional lighting was needed.

After looking for lighting options commercially available, they decided once again to build their own. A Hansen grant helped cover the costs of constructing four steel lighting towers that can telescope up to 24 feet tall.

The portable lighting and electrical system can also be used at events where the stage is not used.  Many of these events happen under the direction of Sherman County Community Development and Sherman County Community Service (Home-owned Carnival Group), Northwest Kansas District Free Fair.

Aaron Duell, who helped design and fabricate the system for the Northwest Kansas District Free Fair, was looking forward to using them at multiple community events this summer.
