TIPTON – Exterior walls were tuckpointed, and a new entry door system was installed to preserve the downtown Tipton Community Center.
A recent building inspection showed that the building was in real need of work. The front main entry doors and frames are worn out and letting moisture and air through. The frames are worn to where the lock system can no longer secure the doors properly. The mortar between the bricks of exterior walls was falling out, allowing moisture to get in.
A Hansen grant helped pay for the needed work so that the building can continue to provide a place for weddings, anniversaries, funeral dinners, birthday gatherings, graduation gatherings, high school and junior high volleyball, basketball games and practices, school PE classes, dance and music rehearsals, new year’s parties, free throw contests, blood drives, weekly senior dinners and elections.
