The Village Green provides a gathering spot in Clyde

CLYDE – A volunteer group called Clyde in Action has transformed their town’s downtown with a project called The Village Green.

Over the course of a year, two dilapidated buildings were demolished and public restrooms were constructed, along with a concession area. A raised platform was installed, along with an additional seating area and a water feature, outdoor fireplace, game areas and completion of walking paths and green space.

The Village Green provides a beautiful and fun outdoor area for people to gather and spend time together. There are a total of six outdoor games in the space that are available for play daily. Community members have been found relaxing and playing games daily since the grand opening in May.

The space can be reserved, and so far 12 events have been booked on The Village Green calendar. This includes some birthday parties, graduation parties, library events, and a wedding.

The work of local craftsmen is featured in The Village Green, including: mural by Clyde native Monique Resco; masonry by Clyde resident Brad Czapanskiy; pergolas, light poles, planters and awnings by Clyde native Zeke Chartier; signage by Clyde resident Cami Resco; water feature by Clyde resident Dustin Knox; landscape beds by Clyde resident John Nobert; turf by Clyde native Nick Jackson; concession area door refinished by Clyde resident Arvine Hiner; lead contractor Kenton Brown, of Clyde; fundraiser T-shirts by Clyde resident Lisa Girard.
