QUINTER – During the 2024-25 school year, a new curriculum was utilized in preschool and older toddler classrooms at the Gove County Learning Center. It offered more hands-on experiences for children.
To support the curriculum further, books were purchased that followed each of the nine monthly themes. With 20 books each theme, the center utilized a Hansen Foundation grant to purchase close to 180 books.
The new curriculum emphasizes letters and words in a different way. The children have enjoyed talking about the letters they see in the books, as well as the sounds the letters make. Older children have been able to recognize simple words from books in the classroom library.
Children spending more time with the books and increased emphasis on language and literacy.
