HILL CITY – A year after flooding damaged the Hill City baseball complex, the ball fields have been repaired and teams are playing ball again.
Grant funds helped purchase red clay to cover the ball diamond dirt infields, and games began May 30.
The flood that damaged the ball complex happened 24 hours after the first softball tournament of the 2018 season had been completed. The tournament was the first annual Todd Toll Memorial Tournament, held in memory of a former Graham County commissioner who loved softball and community events.
Toll’s wife, Gerry; daughter, Shannon; and several other community members organized fund raising after the flood to ensure that the annual tournament would continue.
