WILSON – A project designed to further promote Wilson’s Czech heritage and bring visitors downtown has laid an egg, well, three actually.
The World’s Largest Czech Egg, which was installed in Wilson several years ago, has attracted visitors to the community. However, many of them were simply taking pictures and leaving. The new project, which resulted from a Strategic Doing initiative, has resulted in several of those visitors coming downtown, where they can now see three additional four-foot tall Czech eggs, along with new signage.
While downtown, many have visited stores and restaurants. Another part of the project was installation of an interactive board in the Wilson Mercantile, which provides tourists with information about sights, events and activities in Wilson and the surrounding areas.
As funds become available, additional eggs are planned for downtown.
