GOODLAND – The Goodland Police Department has a new member, and its K-9 program is continuing with the addition of Blade, a trained German shepherd.
The department’s previous dog, Flex, had to be retired prematurely after experiencing health problems. Grant funding helped cover the expense of acquiring Blade from Shallow Creek Kennel in Pennsylvania. K-9 Handler and Police Corporal Jason Erhart trained in Pennsylvania with the dog for six weeks.
Blade is expected to assist in combatting the illegal drug trade in Goodland and Sherman County.
