ELLSWORTH – A kickoff event at which about half of those in attendance were first-time donors ensured that the Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation had more than $46,000 pledged toward a $50,000 Foundation matching grant before the official match month even started.
The event featured a performance by Dueling Pianos and a presentation by Betsy Wearing, coordinator of communications, programs and new initiatives for the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.
By the end of the month, the $50,000 goal had been exceeded.
