Burr Oak’s history made into art

A mural commemorating the 150th anniversary of Burr Oak and painted in the colors of a Kansas sunset was created by an artist who grew up there.

Callum McNichols designed the work of art on the west wall of the Burr Oak Community Center to represent different eras of the community’s history.

Eight volunteers attended a community wall washing party that preceded the painting of the mural.
