
Eighteen college students spent the summer of 2019 working on community projects throughout Northwest Kansas as Hansen community interns. Applications are being accepted through Jan. 31 for intern positions for 2020.
Each community that participates in the program has a unique project. Some examples from 2019 were in Ellsworth County, intern Michaela Pruesz developed a marketing plan utilizing a boot as a branding tool. She also developed wayfinder signage and secured bids. In Oberlin, intern Matthew Barnes developed a usage plan for the historic Sappa Park. Intern MaKinlie Hennes worked with businesses in the Downs community and the Downs Chamber of Commerce to update their websites and develop marketing pieces. In downtown Norton, intern Casey Armbroiser developed storefront designs for 11 businesses.
