Jewell County Strong Community Wellness Center opens

MANKATO – Since the Jewell County Strong Community Wellness Center opened its doors in May, more than 265 people have become members, and the number has continued to grow daily.

Over 1,800 volunteer hours were contributed toward construction and completion of the 5,000-square-foot facility, which includes an exercise room fitted with an indoor walking track and cardio and strength training equipment. In June, a variety of health education classes targeted toward different age groups were initiated and have been well-received by the community.

Installation of a rehabilitation pool was expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Dane G. Hansen Foundation grant funds covered a portion of construction costs and the cost of installation of plumbing and HVAC equipment.

The center’s enduring presence is fostering a deeper sense of community, promoting a culture of health and wellness, and transforming Jewell County into a beacon of thriving, healthy living.
