More NWK performers in state orchestra

More than a quarter of the students who performed as part of the Kansas Intercollegiate Orchestra during a two-day festival in Wichita were from Northwest Kansas.

An audience that included people from every one of the 105 counties in Kansas enjoyed the KIO performance. Grant funds helped pay for a guest conductor from Ithaca, N.Y.

The 46 students involved arrived at the first rehearsal ready to play, and this year’s repertoire was more difficult than it had been in previous years. Twelve of the performers were from Northwest Kansas.
