HAYS – Children at the Hays Area Children’s Center have long helped tend a garden that provides fresh produce for their meals and snacks. They learn about nutrition and healthy dietary choices through the activity.

Now the growing season in spring and fall has been extended by the addition of a greenhouse to the premises. The children get excited when they know that what is being served at breakfast, lunch or for snack came from the greenhouse.

Helping in the greenhouse has proved to be beneficial to some students’ mental health, helping to relieve stress and gain calmness.
