A program that introduces law students to opportunities in Northwest Kansas has resulted in several Washburn Law School graduates deciding to live and work in the area.
At least two of the 2023 Hansen Externs, from the Washburn University Class of 2024, will remain in the region to practice law upon graduation.
Currently, there are 19 former Hansen Externs practicing in Northwest Kansas, with two more in bordering counties. Since it started in 2017, the program has placed 74 externs with 34 supervising attorneys in the 26 counties served by the Foundation.
In addition, two of the 2023 externs were supervised by members of the inaugural 2017 class.
