NORTHWEST KANSAS ARTS

Through the Strategic Doing initiative across NW Kansas, communities identified a desire for more cultural arts opportunities. The Hansen Foundation responded.

The Hansen Foundation recognizes the importance of the arts to support a rich, meaningful and engaged life. The arts enable us to imagine the unimaginable and to connect us to the past, the present, and the future, sometimes simultaneously. The arts can transport us to different places and cultures, and allows us to see ourselves and our own communities through a different lens.

The foundation is excited to announce the following partnerships and opportunities for our communities:

LOVEWELL INSTITUTE FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS

Summer musical theater workshops – for NW Kansas high school students!
Students entering high school through graduating seniors and invited to participate in  week-long musical theatre workshops. From the first word to the final bow, students conceive, write, choreograph, compose, design, rehearse, produce and perform an original piece of musical theatre in collaboration with a staff of professionals and educators. CREEDE REPERTORY THEATRE YOUNG AUDIENCE OUTREACH TOUR

This fall – for all NW Kansas elementary schools!
An original children’s theatre production will tour NW Kansas elementary schools this fall. This one-hour interactive children’s musical entertains as it educates. In addition to the performance, each child receives a free book of the story. Performances are fully underwritten by the Hansen Foundation. Click on the Creede Rep link at left to learn more.

NORTHWEST KANSAS ARTS EVENTS GRANTS

NW Kansas Arts grants are designed to bring more arts events to Northwest Kansas by assisting with the artist fee/contract. Applicants are required to secure funding for expenses beyond the artist contract, such as facility rental, food, marketing, etc.

A special application is available for the NW Kansas Arts Events Grant. It includes events in partnership with the Mid-America Arts Alliance or events featuring Kansas-based artists. Applications are accepted at any time, following the Foundation’s regular monthly grant schedule. Click on the NW Kansas Arts Events Grants on the left to learn more.
