OBERLIN – A sunflower mural has made the park bandshell a destination, even when there’s no one on stage.

The mural was the first project of Color Decatur County. The hope is to complete future murals in Jennings, Norcatur and Dresden.

Since the mural was completed in the bandshell, its usage has increased, and professional photos have been taken there.

Community members came together to help with the project, providing an electric lift, cabin rental for the muralists and other needed items.

Decatur County high school and junior high students visited the muralists throughout the week to view progress. A ribbon cutting and BBQ were held, with freewill offerings accepted for future mural projects.
