Technology Center open for use by area schools, other groups

Russell eighth graders have enjoyed a hands-on career exploration day at the Dane G. Hansen Scout Reservation for the past three years. It has become so popular that the Russell School District is exploring adding a day for high school students to visit the scout reservation’s Technology Center.

The state-of-the-art facilities include mechanical, robotics, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry bays. The 2024 event for Russell eighth graders included instructors from Fort Hays Technical College along with subject matter experts who are also volunteers registered with the Coronado Area Council.

The facilities are available to the growing number of participants in scouting programs but also available for use by outside groups. Arrangements can be made through the Coronado Area Council of Boy Scouts of America.
